i have lived in new york for three years
and three years it has taken to get me to the tree at Rockefeller Center
it was dreamy and i felt like a tourist
but i gotta say, i thought it would be bigger?

fall weekend

This weekend we hopped on a train and went to the Jets Stadium to watch Notre Dame play the Navy. We lost (understatement) and Ben was not a happy camper but I was happy because this is probably the first weekend that it really feels like fall. It smells like fall, it looks like fall. I just feel alive with fall.

Last night my roommate threw a rooftop gathering and I made Butter Bourbon Cider. I recommend this recipe to all of you for your fall cookout's, bonfires, rooftop parties, etc. It is quick and easy and when you drink it you feel warm all over.

Now we are resting up and watching football (okay I'm not watching football I am listening to this fall mix instead). But today is beautiful and I could not be happier.

tennessee waltz

took a last minute trip to nashville this weekend.....

probably was a bad idea
the weather was AWFUL
i am usually a grump where rain is involved

but regardless of the nastiness outside
we made the most of it
and discovered lots of fantastic new places in a new city

cafes, diners, rare used bookstores, old fashioned soda shops...

I think I love you Nashville...
maybe next time you'll go easier on us
perhaps a little sunshine?

what a little strolling can do

we took a stroll on orchard
we took a stroll on broome
there we saw it, that lovely little stoop
and with one swift swing of the door
the smell of fresh baked cupcakes
pulled us in, as always
