It's Amore!

New York City food has stolen my heart. I haven't been to the same restaurant twice. There are so many amazing places to choose. I am dying to eat at Little Owl, Freeman's, and Bobo (above) which was featured in last month's Domino. The article was about homey restaurants taking over instead of the more contemporary decor you can find in so many here (not to mention the menu looks tasty with items like chestnut chicken soup, lemon risotto with shrimp and rosemary, potato gnocci, and chicken grand-mere).

I've also had the chance to eat at a few great places here in the city. This weekend Matthew and I dined at the Kingswood (above), an Australian restaurant with peacocks and old branches for decor. Even little monarch butterflies were hung from the ceiling. The atmosphere was great and the food was pretty good too! Excellent mussels and lamb chops!

Schillers (above) was the restaurant of choice on Thursday night. A double date there included amazing tuna burgers, excellent cocktails (i had the wet ginger martini), and deserts to die for... we shared the sticky toffee pudding and the carmelized banana split. The restaurant is designed to look like an old French slaughter house. Old green rusty wine bottles lined the walls and the white tile and wired glass added to the effect.

Last weekend a girlfriend and I tried out Cafeteria in Chelsea. It was so cute and would be even better in the summer when the glass garage style doors are raised and more tables are put outside. We tested out the Mac n Cheese spring rolls which they are known for. And the rest of the menu seemed really good as well. It only took us about 45 minute to finally decide what to eat! It was fun and lite and their Mocktails are something I'd like to try next time.

Lombardi's Pizza (above) in Nolita was also excellent! It is America's first licensed pizzaria. It came to little Italy ages ago and the owner brought his father and grandfather's recipes from Naples. The pizza was amazing. Be sure to get the sauteed garlic spinach on it! Or the Clam Pie. It is said to be the best pizza in New York.

Wow there are so many good places I've eaten at so far. Another good one is Brasserie in Mid-town. If you have the chance... get the chef's choice. It is a 5 course meal that the chef makes personally for your table after talking with you about what you like or do not like. Matthew and I had these amazing mouth watering blue cheese croûtons that were like nothing i've ever tasted before. And that includes desert. The chocolate beignets were to die for.

The first night I was here in the city we ate at Stanton Social (above) in the Lower East Side. If you are in the mood for tapas and wonderful drinks.... go here! We had so many good things like wasabi pea encrusted salmon, goat cheese and potato pierogies, and red snapper tacos. For dessert we had pumpkin profiteroles, and the simply amazing chocolate tasting. Drinks were exceptional! I had the vanilla cucumber cosmopolitan but the blood orange jalapeño margarita sounded pretty good too.

Among all these amazing places I've eaten so far, there are also some tasty treats that I've experienced when I'm out and about with friends. Rice to Riches in Soho which has all different flavors of rice pudding and Magnolia Bakery in the West Village are my favorites so far. I hope to try Chickaliscious soon. It is in the East Village and serves pre fixe desserts. There is so much to try! Needless to say.... I love New York!
